Edith J. Scheuermann, 93, of Peoria, passed away at 3:40 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2010, at Snyder Village in Metamora.
Edith was born on September 11, 1916 in Elderville, a daughter of William H. and Augusta (Labonte) Miller. She married Harold E. Scheuermann on October 25, 1936 in Burlington, IA. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2001 in Metamora. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Fern Scheuermann.
She is survived by her son, Ted (Jane) Scheuermann of Peoria; daughter, Sharon Petrakis of Peoria; grandchildren, Tammy Willgohs of O’Fallon, Tim (Susan) Scheuermann of Normal, Eric Scheuermann of Schaumburg, Tracee (Andrew) Yawger of Reading, PA, Michael Petrakis of Champaign and Karen Leavitt of Deerfield Beach, FL; and ten great grandchildren.
In 1939, Edith joined Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria. She was active in their FTF Sunday School Class and a teacher in the Beginner Department and Bible School for many years.
Edith was a self employed seamstress for several years and loved her work. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, camping and wintering in Mesa, Arizona.
She also enjoyed crafts, knitting, crocheting, and reading. She loved Christian Hymns, especially “The Old Rugged Cross”, and collecting glass and ceramic birds and bells. Edith will be remembered for her love of God and family and as a loving mother and faithful Christian.
Funeral services will be at noon on Monday, July 5, 2010, at Grace Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the church. Interment will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made in Edith’s memory to Grace Presbyterian Church or to Snyder Village.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 428 West McClure Avenue, in Peoria.
